Q: What is a Cincinnati style chili?
A: Developed
by Greek immigrants in the 1920's Cincinnati chili is a meat
sauce (sorry Rochestarians there are no beans in this chili)
that differs from Texas-style chili primarily by the inclusion
of sweet spices like cinnamon and allspice along with bakers’
chocolate. Dogtown Sauce is considerably leaner than most other
sauces because we use a 80% lean beef and never add any
lard. The result is a hearty sauce that is spicy but not hot.
Those who wish to pump up the heat can do so by adding various
bottled hot sauces on our condiment tray.

Q: What are Dogtown potatoes and why is everyone talking
about them? A: Well, we start with Idaho potatoes (ask
if anyone else in town uses them, they cost 50% more that the
common "Chef" potato used for grilled homefries) we coat them
with seasoned bread crumbs, then fry them. The result is a delicious
crusty but not greasy potato. They’re difficult to make, but so
many customers have told us how much they love them, we’ll just
have to keep making them.

Q: What is a Junkyard Dog Plate?
A: Rochester
is known for its "Plates"--2 hot dogs or burgers, over 2 sides
covered with hot sauce. But-- who is going to put homemade macaroni
salad, dog potatoes, and an authentic lean Cincinati style chili
over two Zweigle hots or two 3.2 oz. burgers? Only Dogtown,
we dare say. But don’t just listen to us toot our own horn.
Ask around--these are the best plates in town--hands down.
